Strike in Dilling, Sudan Kills Nine Civilians

(MENAFN) Nine civilians, among them three children, lost their lives, and several others were injured on Wednesday when artillery shells struck the city of Dilling in Sudan’s South Kordofan state, according to a Sudanese nongovernmental platform.

A Platform reported that the attack was conducted by forces of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu and allied with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The shelling specifically targeted residential districts within the city.

The platform confirmed that the bombardment resulted in the deaths of six adults and three children, while numerous others sustained injuries.

It added that Sudanese army forces subsequently launched an assault on the Taital area in South Kordofan, the location from which the artillery was fired, successfully gaining control of the zone.

As of now, neither the Sudanese army nor the SPLM-N faction and its RSF allies have issued any statements regarding the incident.

Since the early stages of the conflict over two years ago, the cities of Kadugli and Dilling in South Kordofan have been under blockade by the RSF and SPLM-N faction and have frequently faced artillery and drone attacks.

The three Kordofan states – North, West, and South – have recently witnessed intense clashes between the army and RSF forces, displacing tens of thousands of residents.
